Dead Sea, Jordan

Today we traveled down the Kings Highway to visit some example of ancient castles before heading to the Dead Sea.  We first arrived at Hanara, which was established in 700 BC.
The first settlers in this area actually settled here some 6000BC.  We next toured Annra, which was established in 711 BC. Between these two castles is relatively noting. Very arid hot dry land with very little vegetation. The Bedouins, who live in tents in the desert used to represent by 30% of the population of this area. Today that number is around 4%. the Bedouins live in tents made out of goat hair.
The city of Amman is the oldest continuously occupied city in the world.
We at lunch at a beautiful resort overlooking the Dead Sea. After lunch we headed down to swim in the water. There is 30% salt in the water, so once you lay down you immediately start floating. This was unlike anything i had ever experienced. The waters are reported to have healing properties. When we got out to shore, we covered our entire bodies with thick black mud, let it dry and then rinse it off in the sea. It is a youth restoring rememdy!
I feel so much younger already :)
We bought some products that were made with ingredients from the Dead Sea.
A wonderful day!
