AMMAN, Jordan

We arrived in Amman at 7 pm. smooth landing. The buildings here are not tall at all. I noticed then when we were flying low over the city. I asked our driver what the tallest buildings in the city were, and he pointed out two glass towers that were being built right now. He hates them. All building in Amman are required to be made of white limestone. The mayor has made the decision to allow these new glass skyscrapers. There is a fear from the locals that this will change the historic look and feel of the town. One of the skyscrapers is a fifty story Marriott.
The airport was small, but clean. I noticed right away that there are no blonds here! Everyone has dark hair and is slight. Our driver was a riot and is filled with trivia.
Marc asked him what he thought of Obama. He said, honestly, that he didn't think that he was going to turn out to be the savior that the US thinks he is. He thinks the expectations are very high and that he has a lot on his plate, and that everyone expects a lot out of him.
We arrived at the Four Seasons. We have a great room with a great view. Beautiful.
We met up with our two friends that we met in Asia and their son. His partner was getting a massage, so we didn't get to meet him yet.
We are having breakfast with all of them tomorrow.
Marc and i are going to do the gym and pool tomorrow, then the next day we are all taking a trip to to the Dead Sea.
I will post pics tomorrow.
